Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda further highlighted that PM Shri Narendra Modi has consistently articulated a distinct vision for the North East, one focused on development and propelling the nation forward. PM Shri Narendra Modi has reiterated that Sikkim and all the North Eastern states serve as gateways to East Asia and SouthEast Asia. Therefore, approximately 55 thousand crore worth of projects have either been inaugurated or had their foundation stones laid by PM Shri Narendra Modi on the soil of Sikkim. Shri Nadda stated, “If we talk about PM Shri Narendra Modi’s vision and style of functioning, it is centered on achieving last-mile delivery and enhancing last-mile connectivity.”

Furthermore, Sikkim celebrated the inauguration of its first airport, Meghalaya marked the opening of its railway station after 67 years, and Nagaland acquired an additional railway station after a century. Shri Nadda criticized the previous government for its isolationist and ignorant approach, as well as its focus on advancing its own vote bank. Shri Nadda noted that this approach was characteristic of the functioning style of the Congress party and other political entities.
Shri Nadda pointed out that when Hon’ble PM Modi became the Prime Minister, he emphasized the imperative to “Look East, Act East, Act Fast, Act First.” It was underscored that for India to progress, the eastern region must not remain weak, as it could impede the nation’s advancement. Therefore, special support and financial assistance were advocated for the eastern part of the country. Shri Nadda stated that today, it can be affirmed that the mainstreaming of the Northeast has taken place. This advancement has been facilitated by decisiveness, doorstep delivery, and development. Shri Nadda highlighted that PM Shri Narendra Modi has termed the North East as “Ashtalakshmi.” Previously, the region was known for blockades, insurgency, and targeted killings, but today, it is recognized for peace, prosperity, power, tourism, 5G connectivity, natural farming, culture, sports, and the enhancement of potential. This indicates a significant shift from a time when the North East was disregarded and plagued by various forms of insurgency to now, where it is advancing with peace and prosperity. Additionally, Sikkim is also progressing in this regard.
BJP National President highlighted that in the North East, 11 peace accords have been established, resulting in the surrender of 9500 insurgents. This has led to a 71% reduction in insurgency incidents, a 60% decrease in security force attacks, and an 82% reduction in attacks on civilians. Shri Nadda emphasized that over the past decade, PM Shri Narendra Modi has allocated 5 lakh crore rupees for the development of the North East. This reflects his belief in the HIRA project, which prioritizes Highways, Internet, Railways, and Airports (HIRA), thereby ensuring holistic development, including air connectivity, highway connectivity, internet connectivity, and railway connectivity. Shri Nadda highlighted that over the past nine years, 10 thousand kilometers of roads have been constructed, with 6 thousand kilometers built in the past eight years alone. Additionally, three lakh crore rupees have been invested in the National Highway project over the last decade. New dimensions of development are being established in Arunachal Pradesh under the BJP government.
Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda stated that the INDI alliance is a coalition of dynasty-oriented parties and a conglomeration of allegedly corrupt parties. Shri Nadda stated that Shri Narendra Modi announced from the Red Fort that corruption would not be spared, and recently Shri Narendra Modi further announced that after June 4, the fight against corruption would be intensified. Shri J.P. Nadda pointed out that PM Shri Narendra Modi is making efforts for “Bhrashtachar Hatao” while the INDI alliance is working towards “Bhrastachariyon ko Bachao“. Hence, these individuals will remain in jail according to legal procedures. Shri Nadda highlighted that the political parties associated with the INDI alliance are Parivarwadi parties including Congress Party, RJD, J&K National Conference Party, Mehbooba Mufti’s J&K’s People’s Democratic Party, Samajwadi Party and TMC.
Shri JP Nadda highlighted that the Bharatiya Janata Party is the only democratic party and the welfare of Arunachal Pradesh lies with the win of BJP. Shri Nadda urged the public to participate in the upcoming elections by voting for the lotus symbol, ensuring the progress of both the country and Arunachal Pradesh under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

During the event, State President and Coimbatore Candidate Shri K. Annamalai, Union MoS and Nilgiri Lok Sabha Candidate Shri L.Murugan, State co-election incharge Shri P. Sudhakar Reddy, Vellore Lok Sabha Candidate Shri A. C. Shanmugam, Dharmapuri Candidate Smt Sowmiya Anbumani f, Krishnagiri Candidate Shri C Narasimhan, Arakkonam Candidate Shri K Balu, Tiruvannamalai Candidate Shri A Ashwathaman and Candidate from Arani, Shri A Ganesh Kumar were present. While addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji urged the nation to re-elect the Modi government by ensuring victory for the NDA alliance on over 400 seats nationwide. Shri Narendra Modi strongly criticized the entire INDI alliance, including Congress and DMK, particularly on issues concerning Katchatheevu Island and the anti-Sanatan stance.
Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji expressed confidence that the upcoming year will further strengthen the development journey of Tamil Nadu. Shri Narendra Modi highlighted the significance of the upcoming elections and the enthusiasm of the people in shaping this journey. Shri Modi emphasized that those in Delhi are unaware of the historic developments unfolding in the land of Vellore and Tamil Nadu. Shri Modi attributed his inspiration and reverence for Tamil Nadu to the love and blessings of its people. Shri Narendra Modi paid tribute to the historic, legendary, and courageous land of Vellore, honoring its rich heritage. Shri Narendra Modi specifically mentioned the revered Jalakandeswarar temple and the worship of Bhagwan Murugan, acknowledging their significance in the cultural fabric of Tamil Nadu. Shri Modi highlighted Vellore’s historical significance, recalling its past revolution against British rule. Shri Narendra Modi noted the ongoing historic moment as Vellore Fort and the land of Vellore witnessed massive public support for the BJP and NDA. The entire Tamil Nadu resonates with the chant, ‘EK Baar phir, Modi Sarkaar‘.
Shri Modi emphasized the imperative of building ‘Viksit Tamil Nadu’ and ‘Viksit Bharat’ in the 21st century. He credited the NDA-led Central government for laying the foundation of ‘Viksit Bharat’ over the past decade. Reflecting on the pre-2014 era, he recalled India’s weak economy, indecisiveness, and rampant corruption scandals dominating the headlines, which led to concerns about the country’s economic stability.
Hon’ble PM underscored that India is now emerging as a global power, with Tamil Nadu contributing significantly to this progress. Shri Narendra Modi highlighted Tamil Nadu’s substantial role in India’s space sector and manufacturing industry. Shri Modi expressed optimism that the construction of the Defence Corridor in Tamil Nadu would propel the state to new heights. He praised the talent of Tamil Nadu’s youth, emphasizing how their contributions strengthen India’s overall ecosystem. Shri Modi emphasized the NDA government’s commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Vellore. He highlighted the imminent completion of the Vellore airport under the UDAAN scheme, which will enhance air connectivity and benefit students in the region. Additionally, the Chennai-Bengaluru industrial corridor passing through Vellore will modernize connectivity and boost development. Shri Modi also noted the NDA government’s efforts in enhancing railway connectivity post-2014.
Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji stated that for Tamil Nadu, it’s time to lead the journey of building ‘VIksit Bharat’. But DMK doesn’t want Tamil Nadu to open up, to move ahead, and to embrace development and prosperity. The entire DMK has become a ‘family company’. It is due to the family politics of the DMK that the youth of Tamil Nadu are not getting any chance to prosper. Shri Modi stated that to become successful in DMK, one must meet three primary criteria: Family politics, Corruption, and Anti-Tamil culture.
Shri Modi stated that the DMK party has earned the ‘first copyright’ on corruption. He revealed that sand smugglers have caused a loss of ₹4600 crore to the state’s treasury within just two years. Shri Modi further highlighted that despite the central government sending thousands of crores for Tamil Nadu’s development, these funds were also embezzled by the DMK. The DMK’s involvement in drug peddling has extended to schools, raising concerns about its reach and influence. Allegations suggest that the drug mafias receive protection from the DMK, evident from the NCB summoning a drug lord with close ties to a prominent Tamil Nadu family. As the election approaches, it will be up to the people of Tamil Nadu to determine the future of parties tainted by corruption.
Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji has asserted that the foundation of DMK’s politics revolves around the divisive strategy of “Divide, Divide, and Divide”. He accused the DMK of inciting conflicts based on language, regionalism, religion, and caste. According to him, the DMK is fully aware that once the public becomes cognizant of their divisive tactics, they will fail to secure even a single vote. He vowed to expose the divisive politics that the DMK has allegedly practiced for decades. He emphasized his efforts to promote Tamil culture and literature on a national scale, highlighting initiatives like the Kashi-Tamil Sangamam and the Saurashtra-Tamil Sangamam. As a Member of Parliament from Kashi, he extended invitations to join the Kashi-Tamil Sangamam, aiming to enhance the event’s significance. Additionally, he mentioned his endeavor to raise awareness about Tamil Nadu’s rich cultural heritage on an international platform. He noted that whenever he addresses the UN, he endeavors to speak in Tamil, underlining Tamil’s status as one of the world’s oldest living languages.
Shri Modi underscored that when he established the sacred Sengol of Tamil Nadu in Parliament, the DMK boycotted the event. Shri Narendra Modi also pointed out the historical issue regarding the Katchatheevu island, which was ceded to Sri Lanka during the Congress government’s tenure several decades ago. In recent times, over a thousand fishermen have been apprehended by the Sri Lankan government for trespassing near the island. While the DMK has displayed superficial sympathy towards the fishermen, they have failed to acknowledge their role in the transfer of Katchatheevu island to Sri Lanka. The NDA government has been actively involved in efforts to repatriate fishermen, successfully bringing back five individuals who were facing death sentences in Sri Lanka. The Prime Minister stated that the DMK is not only the culprit of the fishermen but the entire nation. He recalled his visit to the Sripuram Narayani Golden Temple, during his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat. He emphasized that Tamil Nadu, known as the land of worshippers of ‘Shakti,’ has faced threats from forces aiming to undermine this spiritual tradition. He likened the ideology of the Congress ‘Yuvraj’ to a pledge to dismantle ‘Shakti’ and noted similar sentiments harboured by the DMK, which historically opposed Sanatan Dharma. Furthermore, the Prime Minister criticized the DMK for disrespecting former Chief Minister Amma Jayalalitha and continued to make objectionable remarks against women. He urged voters to support the BJP-led NDA government, highlighting their commitment to the empowerment of women and the preservation of Sanatan Dharma.
Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji highlighted the significant opportunity for the development of Tamil Nadu that lies ahead. He commended all the candidates and urged the public to cast their votes for the NDA on April 19th, guaranteeing Tamil Nadu’s progress. He expressed his desire to connect with the people of Tamil Nadu on a personal level, stating, ‘Mere Dil mein Aapko Rakhna chahta hu, mai Aapke Dil mein Rehna chahta hu.’
Shri Modi addressed the public meeting in Coimbatore and highlighted that for decades, the parties of the INDI alliance had left millions of people from SC, ST, and OBC communities longing for basic necessities like housing, electricity, and water. While they advocated for these rights, the fulfillment remained elusive. The BJP government has ensured free ration for 80 crore people, provided housing for 4 crore individuals, and electrified every village. The NDA government is establishing multi-modal logistics parks in two cities, including Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, while the DMK government is accused of neglecting the renowned textile industry in Coimbatore. He accused the DMK of showing favoritism in distributing benefits from the Centre’s tap water scheme and criticized their handling of security issues, alleging leniency towards radicals involved in the Sangameswara temple terrorist attack.
Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji highlighted when DMK leader was questioned about Tamil Nadu BJP State President Shri K. Annamalai, he responded with derogatory remarks and asked, “Who is Annamalai?”This disrespectful behavior towards Shri Annamalai, a former police officer, and a dedicated individual from a marginalized community, working tirelessly for public welfare, will not be forgotten by the public. Such arrogance from the DMK is seen as an affront to the rich culture of Tamil Nadu.
Shri Modi lauded Tamil Nadu BJP State President and Coimbatore candidate, Shri K. Annamalai, and Nilgiris candidate, Shri L. Murugan, along with other candidates. He emphasized that these dynamic individuals represent the direct voice of the people to him and assured that their victory would pave the way for new avenues of development in Tamil Nadu. He commended the renowned Nilgiri tea, and expressed a heartfelt connection to this picturesque tea-growing region, reminiscent of his own humble beginnings as a tea seller. He highlighted the significance of Nilgiris for the BJP, recalling the overwhelming support received during Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s tenure, which resulted in becoming the BJP MP from this constituency. Today, the BJP holds a strong position throughout Tamil Nadu, with many predicting that the BJP and NDA will be the ones to sideline the DMK. Parties like DMK and Congress have a common agenda – to stay in power by any means. Despite decades of Congress proclaiming to alleviate poverty, it persisted, whereas the NDA government successfully uplifted 25 crore people out of poverty.
Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji commended Tamil Nadu BJP State President Shri K. Annamalai and candidate from Coimbatore, as well as Shri L. Murugan from Nilgiris, alongside other candidates. The Hon’ble Prime Minister highlighted their energy and dedication, stating that they represent the voices of the people directly to him. The victory of these candidates, he emphasized, will usher in new pathways of development for Tamil Nadu. He announced that his speech would now be available in the Tamil language through “NaMo in Tamil,” ensuring broader accessibility to his message.
The land of Balaghat is a witness to the might of India’s women power: PM
Prime Minister Narendra Modi graced a public rally held in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh. The PM showered his love and blessings upon the crowd and discussed various key issues related to the development of Madhya Pradesh. He pledged to work for the tribal community, the women and for the nation as a whole.
Commencing his address, PM Modi extended his heartfelt greetings of Navratri to the people of Balaghat and remarked, “The land of Balaghat is a witness to the might of India’s women power.”
“For decades post-independence, Congress clung to outdated notions, viewing India through the lens of poverty. Their focus on infrastructure was limited to a few major cities where their leaders resided, neglecting others,” the PM shared in discontentment. He also put forward the BJP’s notion in contrast and said, “The BJP, guided by the principle of inclusive development, prioritizes every corner of the nation. Our government channels substantial funds into modern infrastructure projects across cities and villages, exemplifying our commitment to progress for all.”
PM Modi shared glimpses of his vision for Madhya Pradesh, stating, “The BJP government is revitalizing MP, completing projects like the Balaghat to Gondia broad gauge railway line, initiated three decades ago. We aim to grant Waraseoni handloom sarees of Balaghat the prestigious ‘GI tag’, elevating them like Banarasi sarees. This is Modi Ki Guarantee of a developed India from a developed Madhya Pradesh, a result of a decade of tireless effort.” The PM reinstated that “this is just a trailer; a lot is yet to be accomplished as we propel the nation forward.”
PM Modi in his optimistic address reiterated that, “Modi isn’t here for leisure; his ambitions are vast. Like lighting sparklers before launching a rocket on Diwali, the ongoing development is just a glimpse. India is yet to celebrate its true potential, its real Diwali. And it’s for this purpose that I seek your blessings.”
The PM expressed his deep disregard towards the opposition and said, “When BJP nominated the first female tribal President, Congress vehemently opposed her, disregarding tribal heritage. They neglected revolutionaries like Govind Guru, denying them the status of freedom fighters. Congress seeks to credit independence to its royal family, ignoring tribal contributions. It’s our government that rightfully honored Govind Guru as a freedom fighter.”
With sheer confidence and honesty, PM Modi stated, “From the heartland of MP, Modi, a devotee of Mahakaal, bows only to the public or the divine. He’s learned from Mahakaal to endure insults for the nation’s service and to quash anti-national forces fearlessly. Modi remains unfazed by their provocations.”
Indicating INDI Alliance’s irritation towards Modi’s plans and endeavours, the PM remarked, “Modi ensures the country’s security, yet faces their abuse. When Article 370 is removed, they echo Pakistan’s rhetoric. Modi pledges welfare for the poor and dignity for women, only to be ridiculed. Even as Ram Lalla is revered in Balaghat, they insult Modi. It seems they find meaning only in vilifying Modi. The INDI Alliance enters this election with a vow to undermine Sanatan Dharma.”
PM Modi gave a ray of hope to the audience and promised that he would work towards rooting out corruption in the country and with people’s support he will make historic strides in the next 5 years. He hoped for a brighter tomorrow with the success of the entire nation.
In his concluding address, the PM appealed to the crowd to show up with assurance and hope on April 19 and vote for the BJP candidates to strengthen Modi and his foresight. The PM also thanked each attendee, encouraging them to convey his appreciation to others.
The BJP government has diligently tackled the issues faced by sugarcane farmers: PM
Prime Minister Narendra Modi showered his love and admiration upon the crowd of Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh. The crowd gathered to celebrate PM Modi’s arrival to the city. PM Modi graced the event and discussed his vision of Uttar Pradesh with the audience.
Initiating his speech, PM Modi extended his heartfelt greetings on the auspicious occasions of Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, Cheti Chand, Navreh, Sajibu Cheiraoba. The PM shared that along with Pilibhit, he also had the privilege of interacting with the people of Bareilly and that everyone’s message is clear- Phir Ek Baar…Modi Sarkar!
Contemplating India’s stance as a global power in today’s world, PM Modi observed that there was a time when the Congress government had to ask for aid from the rest of the world. But now, he continued, “I’m proud. In the face of crisis, India rose, sending vaccines worldwide and bringing back our citizens safely from conflict zones. We also honored our sacred values by bringing Guru Granth Sahib from Afghanistan with utmost devotion. It’s a testament to our strength, compassion, and unity as a nation.”
Going back in time, the PM reminisced, “Pilibhit and its surroundings are renowned for farming. Do you recall the plight of farmers a decade ago? They suffered due to black marketing of costly urea, often enduring beatings. Today, there’s an ample and uninterrupted supply of urea, marking a significant improvement for farmers.”
PM Modi also made the crowd aware of certain successful attempts of the government like, “The bag which is available in the world for Rs 3,000, is being made available to you by our government for less than Rs 300. Here the farmers of UP have also received about Rs 70,000 crore under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. Out of this, about Rs 800 crore has reached the bank accounts of the farmers of Pilibhit.”
Taking a sharp dig at the opposition, the PM mentioned that, “Who knows better than you how sugarcane farmers suffered under Congress and SP rule, tortured for their hard-earned money. The BJP government has diligently tackled the issues faced by sugarcane farmers, facilitating the opening and expansion of numerous sugar mills, with this effort ongoing.”
PM Modi, a staunch believer in women’s empowerment and its significance, took a jab at the opposition’s remark on “Shakti” and said, “On this auspicious first day of Navratri, as we commence the worship of Shakti, let’s remember how the INDI Alliance vows to eradicate this divine force. Congress’s disrespect towards the revered power worshipped nationwide today is undeniable. The INDI Alliance’s insult to the worship of power won’t be forgiven by any devotee.”
PM Modi also exposed the real intentions of the opposition and said, “Congress is deeply rooted in appeasement, seemingly unable to break free. Their manifesto resembles more of the Muslim League’s than their own. Under the pressure of appeasement, both Congress and the Samajwadi Party oppose the CAA. If India doesn’t grant citizenship to persecuted Hindu and Sikh brothers fleeing foreign atrocities, who will? CAA stands to benefit numerous families in Pilibhit, yet Congress and Samajwadi Party oppose it.”
He affirmed, “It’s the BJP that stands firmly with Sikhs, understanding their sentiments. We take pride in the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor serving millions of Sikh pilgrims. Removing GST on langar items, granting FCRA registration for Sri Harmandir Sahib, celebrating Veer Bal Diwas, honoring the Sahibzadas’ bravery, and commemorating important Sikh festivals like the 550th Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, 400th Prakash Parv of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, and 350th Prakash Parv of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.” PM Modi took pride in all of these efforts by the BJP government, highlighting their grand importance, both at home and abroad.
PM Modi rebuked INDI Alliance’s divisive nature and its efforts at dividing India. The PM reinstated that to uphold India’s unity and integrity, victory for the BJP is imperative and reminded the audience that on April 19, Jitin Prasada ji must triumph in Pilibhit, and on May 7, Chhatrapal Singh Gangwar ji must secure a resounding win in Bareilly.
In his final address, PM Modi expressed his gratitude to all the attendees, encouraging them to personally convey his regards as they visit each doorstep.
The following is the first part of the interview with the Prime Minister.
The Assam Tribune: As you have been visiting the North East for years, we presume that you are quite aware of the problems and challenges facing the region. Which of the problems you could solve in your ten-year tenure as the Prime Minister of India?
Prime Minister: For decades after Independence, the Northeastern states were relegated to the margins. Successive Congress governments gave step-motherly treatment to the people of the Northeast because for them the potential electoral gains in the region were too little. For them, the Northeast was too distant and working for its development was also difficult.
When we formed the government, it was my firm commitment to change the status quo in the Northeast. We replaced the policy of isolation and ig norance with a policy of integration. In the last 10 years, it is visible how we have ended the Northeast’s isolation and developed it as Bharat’s gateway to the East. I have visited the Northeast nearly 70 times, which is probably more than the total number of visits made by all the Prime Ministers before me. Since 2015, Union Ministers have visited the North east more than 680 times. We have changed the perception that the Northeast is far by taking govern ance at the doorstep of people. Aaj Northeast Na Delhi se Door Hai Aur Na Dil se Door Hai!
Today, the Northeast has emerged as New India’s greatest success story. It has shown the world: Jab Neeyat sahi hoti hai, to Nateeje bhi sahi hote hai.
In the last five years, the investments we made towards the development of the region are nearly four times more than the funds allocated by the Con gress government or any other previ ous government in the past. The infrastructural development that has taken place in the last decade has con nected the region with the rest of the country and the world like never before.
We fulfilled long-awaited critical con nectivity projects such as Bogibeel Bridge and Bhupen Hazarika Setu that have eased people’s lives. Recently, I had the opportunity to inaugurate the Sela Tunnel, which has been built at a height of 13,000 ft. It will provide all-weather connectivity to the border areas.
It was our government that had laid its foundation stone in 2019. So, you can see the speed and scale of our work.
I have trust in the Yuva Shakti of Northeast, their talent, their skill and their energy. We have opened the doors for them in education, sports, entre preneurship and many other areas.
Since 2014, more than Rs 14,000 crore has been spent to promote higher education in the Northeast.
The country’s first Sports University has been opened in Manipur. We are building more than 200 Khelo India centres across the 8 states.
More than 4,000 startups have emerged from this region in the last decade.
Agriculture is flourishing in the re gion, with the export of fruits, organ ic farming, and Mission Oil Palm bringing great prosperity.
Today, the Northeast is leading from the front in all sectors.
AT: Insurgency is one of the major problems facing the North East region and during your tenure as the Prime Minister, most of the insurgent groups of Assam and some in other states of the region have laid down arms. What steps are you taking to root out insurgency from the region?
PM: There was a long history of insurgencies, infiltration and institutional neglect.
Yes, we decided to deal with insurgency firmly but at the same time, we ensured that common people are embraced with great care and compassion.
As a result, while we have significantly controlled insurgency, we have also been able to win the trust of our people and ensure peace.
A total of 11 peace agreements have been signed in the last 10 years. This is unprecedented progress unseen under any previous government. More than 9,500 insurgents have surrendered since 2014 and joined the mainstream of the society. Due to the relentless efforts of our government, the entire Northeast is now witnessing a significant improvement in the security situation since 2014. Compared to 2014, there has been a 71 per cent reduction in insurgency incidents in 2023. Similarly, in this period, security force casualties have come down by 60 per cent and civilian deaths by 82 per cent. Due to the improved security situation, the AFSPA has been withdrawn from most parts of the Northeast. We have successfully negotiated Border Dispute Settlement Agreements between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh which has put an end to the longstanding dispute concerning 123 villages along the border. We have resolved the 50-year-old dispute between Assam and Meghalaya. Peace agreements like the Bodo Accord and the Bru-Reang Agreement have led to several insurgents and militants surrendering their arms and joining the mainstream. We have strengthened Autonomous Councils to accelerate the development process for the welfare of Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities through democratic decentralization of power through Constitutional amendment. We have launched schemes aimed at rehabilitating insurgents, facilitating their transition into mainstream society through financial support and comprehensive rehabilitation processes. We have put an end to the era of blockades in the Northeast which caused great inconvenience to everyone and hampered the region’s development. All the efforts we have made have ushered in an era of peace in the region.
AT: Communication bottleneck is one of the major problems for the Northeast region. What steps are you taking to deal with the issue?
PM: Given the Northeast’s strategic location, our vision is that the region should be developed as a base for India’s growing economic links while also ensuring that the aspirations of the people are fulfilled. Yes, there were problems. But we focused on the solutions. Today, the Northeast is seeing improved infrastructure connectivity, whether it is roadways or railways, airways or waterways. Even in the remotest corners of the region, 5G connectivity is being established. Border villages are now part of the Vibrant Villages Program, demonstrating how last-mile connectivity is reaching the unreached. We’ve transformed the Northeast from an ”abandoned region” to an “abundant region” with over Rs 5 lakh crore spent by Ministries of the Government of India over the last 10 years. In the last 10 years, many firsts have happened in the Northeast: Many parts of the Northeast are getting connected by rail service for the first time. Meghalaya came on India’s rail network after 67 years of Independence. Nagaland has now got its second railway station after 100 years. The first goods train reached Rani Gaidinliu railway station in Manipur. The Northeast got its first semi high-speed train. Sikkim got its first airport. Just imagine the scarcity created and the level of neglect by the previous governments. The number of airports has increased from 9 to 17, operationalizing 74 routes under the UDAN scheme. Before 2014 there was only one national waterway in the Northeast. Now 5 waterways are operational. Hundreds of towers are covering villages to improve mobile connectivity. You would be happy to know that Agartala has an International Internet Gateway (IIG). It is the third center in the country to have such a gate way after Mumbai and Chennai. The Northeast’s development is also integral to our Act East Policy. We have been consistently working on connecting South East Asia with the Northeast through major projects be it India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway or Kaladan Multimodal Transit Transport Project. I firmly believe that the path to Viksit Bharat runs through the development of our Ashtalakshmi states of the Northeast.
AT: China has been claiming parts of Arunachal Pradesh for years and from time to time the Chinese raise the issue. Is Arunachal Pradesh safe? What steps are you taking to ensure that every inch of the state remains within India?
PM: I do not understand why The Assam Tribune should have any doubt about this. Arunachal Pradesh is, was and shall always be an integral part of Bharat. Today, the development works are reaching Arunachal and the Northeast like the first rays of the sun, faster than ever before. Last month, I visited Itanagar for Viksit Bharat, Viksit North East programme. I had the privilege to unveil Rs 55,000 crore worth of development projects that are providing guarantees for Viksit North East. Around 35,000 families in Arunachal Pradesh got their pucca houses, and 45,000 households benefited from the drinking water supply project. I inaugurated the Sela Tunnel which is a real strategic game-changer providing all-weather connectivity to Tawang. In 2022, we inaugurated the Donyi Polo Airport for enhanced air linkages to the rest of the nation. On the energy front, the Dibang Multipurpose Project will contribute to employment, energy and water resource management. We have commenced new road projects for about 125 villages and tourism and other infrastructure-related projects in 150 villages. The government has also launched a Rs 10,000 crore UNNATI scheme that will bring new possibilities for investment and jobs in the North Eastern Region.
AT: How do you rate the situation in Manipur and what steps are being proposed to ensure ethnic harmony in the state? You were criticized by the opposition for the Manipur issue. Would you like to comment on that?
PM: We believe that it is our collective responsibility to deal with the situation sensitively. I have already spoken about this in the Parliament. We’ve dedicated our best resources and administrative machinery to resolving the conflict. Because of the timely intervention of the Government of India and efforts made by the Government of Manipur, there has been a marked improvement in the situation of the State. Home Minister Amit Shah stayed in Manipur while the conflict was at its peak, holding 15-plus meetings with various stakeholders to help resolve the conflict. The Central Government has been consistently extending its support, as required by the State Government. The process of relief and rehabilitation is ongoing. Remedial measures undertaken include a financial package for the relief and rehabilitation of people living in shelter camps in the State.
AT: The framework agreement with NSCN(IM) was signed in your presence way back in 2015. When can we expect the final solution?
PM: As a result of initiatives taken by our Government, a Framework Agreement was signed with the NSCN/Isak Muivah Group of Naga land on August 3, 2015, for a permanent solution to decades-old Naga political problems. This agreement lays down broad principles within which the final agreement will be worked out. The Official Representative of the Government of India is holding talks with NSCN(IM) and other Naga groups. The Government of India is making all possible efforts to successfully conclude the peace talks with Naga groups at the earliest.
AT: Of late, Mizoram has been facing trouble because of infiltration from Myanmar. What steps is the Government taking in this regard?
PM: As you are aware, this influx of Myanmar nationals into India is largely due to the internal developments in Myanmar. We have been raising this issue with the Myanmar authorities as this directly impacts India, particularly our Northeastern states. To prevent infiltration and secure our borders, several steps have been taken by the Government. These steps include the decision to scrap the Free Movement Regime between India and Myanmar, increased and effective deployment of Border Guarding Forces on the Indo-Myanmar border, Close coordination amongst various security agencies, etc. The Government of India has started construction of fencing on feasible patches along the Indo-Myanmar Border. The Government of India has urged the Government of Mizoram to take up a campaign for the capture of biometric data of illegal migrants in the state. The Government of India has also been providing devices and necessary assistance to the state government to carry out a biometric capture plan. We are bringing about policy changes to adjust to the changing realities on the ground. We want to see peace and stability return to Myanmar at the earliest so that these people can return to their home country peacefully.
Following is the second part of the exclusive interview with the Prime Minister
The Assam Tribune: If you are re-elected as the Prime Minister, what will be your priority areas for the North East?
Prime Minister: Our mantra is Vik sit (developed) North East for Viksit Bharat. In the last 10 years, we have tried to correct numerous historical wrongs of the Congress-led governments. We have brought it to a point where the entire region is brimming with positivity and looking towards a bright future.
We want to ensure that North East becomes the sports hub of India.
We want to ensure that youths get enough opportunities for employment and education in their States.
We want to ensure that the agricultural produce of the North East travels far and wide.
We want to ensure that the North East becomes the trade and tourism hub of India.
In the last few years, the combined GDP of the Northeastern states has increased significantly.
Over Rs 5 lakh crore has been spent towards the development of the region by Ministries of the Central government. Bestowed with nature’s bounties and strategic location, the North East is going to be a key player in India’s Act East policy.
AT: The natural resources including the tourism potential of the North East are yet to be tapped properly. How can the Centre help the region in this regard?
PM: The North East is blessed with biodiversity, natural resources and immense talent. All it needed was a push. Today holistic development is taking place in the region which is helping it grow as one of India’s growth engines. We are promoting on a global scale the unique culture, food and art forms of the North East. Assam created a world record with more than ten thousand dancers and drummers performing Bihu dance recently or another example could be that of Nagaland’s Hornbill festival.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur. During the stirring address to the people of Maharashtra, PM Modi emphasized the importance of stability and development while urging support for the BJP-NDA candidates in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Speaking at a public meeting, PM Modi highlighted the progress made in various sectors and called for continued efforts towards the betterment of the nation.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, PM Modi acknowledged the rising political fervor in the country but commended the unwavering enthusiasm and spirit of the people. He expressed his gratitude to the residents of Chandrapur for their support and reminisced about their contribution to the construction of the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya, symbolizing the unity and progress of New India.
Reflecting on the contrasting visions of stability and instability in the upcoming elections, PM Modi contrasted the BJP-NDA’s commitment to decisive action for the country’s progress with the Congress and INDI Alliance’s focus on self-serving interests. He emphasized the need for a stable government, citing Maharashtra’s experience of neglect under previous regimes.
PM Modi highlighted the transformative initiatives undertaken by the government for the development of Maharashtra and Vidarbha, reinstating schemes and projects that had been stalled by previous administrations. He praised the efforts of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and others in driving development and ensuring progress in the region.
He said, “The INDI Alliance has always pushed the country into instability. How important and necessary a stable government is, who would know better than Maharashtra? As long as the INDI Alliance was in power at the center, Maharashtra was continuously neglected. When these INDI Alliance people, by conspiring, snatched the mandate and reached the helm of the state, they only worked for their own development.”
“Our government has restarted all these schemes for the development of Maharashtra and Vidarbha. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar along with the entire government are working day and night. Big development works are being completed rapidly. When the intention is right, the results are also right,” he added.
Underscoring the government’s dedication to empowering marginalized communities, PM Modi recounted the numerous welfare measures implemented to uplift Dalits, tribals, and backward classes across the country. He credited the support of the people for the successful implementation of these initiatives, emphasizing the transformative impact of their votes.
Drawing attention to the Congress party’s history of creating problems rather than addressing them, PM Modi highlighted instances of division, appeasement, and neglect that characterized their governance since independence. He called out the Congress for obstructing progress and playing divisive politics, urging voters to reject such divisive ideologies.
PM Modi said, “For the past 10 years, the Congress has been out of power. You have given the NDA a full majority. We have provided a permanent solution to the country’s major problems. Today, not only Maharashtra but the entire country has weakened Naxalism.”
“The Congress has released its manifesto, and it also contains the language of the Muslim League. Their MPs are talking about another partition of India. People from the INDI alliance are threatening to separate South India. The DMK party in the INDI alliance talks about ending Sanatan by calling it dengue malaria,” he added.
While concluding the address, PM Modi urged the people of Maharashtra to support the BJP-NDA candidates in the upcoming elections, citing their track record of delivering results and driving development. He called upon voters to exercise their franchise in large numbers on April 19th and April 26th, ensuring a decisive mandate for stability and progress.
After many decades the country has seen a stable and strong government of BJP: PM
In his ongoing election campaigning spree, PM Modi today addressed a public meeting in Bastar, Chhattisgarh. Kickstarting his poll campaign in the state ahead of Lok Sabha election, the PM stated, “”Today, I am here not only to give an account of my 10 years of work but also to express my gratitude to all of you. You have not only formed a BJP government here but also strengthened the foundation of a ’Viksit Bharat’. You have placed your trust in Modi’s guarantee. Today, the entire country is saying with that same confidence – ‘Phir Ek Baar, Modi Sarkar’!”
“For the poor, there is a very big witness of how BJP has worked, and that is Bastar. It was from Bastar division that I began the construction of the Ayushman Arogya Mandir. These Ayushman Arogya Mandirs have become primary centers for cheap treatment and inexpensive check-ups for the poor across the country. Thousands of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs have been opened here in the state too,” said the PM.
He added, “We have opened more than 11,000 Jan Aushadhi Centers, where medicines are provided with an 80 percent discount. This has saved the poor from spending ₹30,000 crore. This is why today the country’s poor are saying – ‘Kharche Kam Karaye, Bachat Badhaye Baar Baar – Phir Ek Baar, Modi Sarkar’.”
Lashing out at the corrupt opposition, PM Modi reiterated, “When Modi stopped the path of corrupt individuals, when he put an end to the earnings of middlemen, since then they have been at odds with Modi. Now, angered, they are threatening to break Modi’s head with sticks. Modi is the son of the poor, he walks with his head held high… Modi is not afraid of their threats. You tell me, should those who have robbed the poor be punished or not?”
“When I am taking action against corruption, some people are upset and losing their senses. Modi’s mantra is ‘Bhrashtachar Hatao’. They say ‘Bhrashtachari Bachao’. No matter how many threats Modi receives, corrupt individuals will have to go to jail – this is Modi’s guarantee,” he added.
Addressing a public rally in Bastar, PM Narendra Modi said, “After independence, Congress thought that it had the license to loot the country but after coming to government in 2014, Modi has cancelled the loot license of Congress and Modi was able to cancel the license because you gave Modi the license. Now their shop has been closed, will they abuse Modi or not? So who will protect me? These crores of my countrymen, my mothers and sisters, have become my Raksha Kavach today.”
PM Modi announced that Ram Navami is approaching, and this time, Ayodhya will witness the realization of our dream – a magnificent temple instead of a tent for our Ram Lalla. However, the Congress and the INDI Alliance express discontent over the temple’s construction. Furthermore, PM Modi remarked that the Congress’s royal family declined the Ram temple consecration invitation, leading to the expulsion of critics within the party. This underscores the Congress’s willingness to cross boundaries for appeasement. He further stated that the Congress manifesto carried the imprint of the Muslim League.
Emphasizing the tribal society has always been a priority for the BJP, PM Modi asserted, “The same tribal community that the Congress has historically mocked now sees one of its daughters as the President of the country. It was the BJP that appointed Chhattisgarh’s first tribal Chief Minister. The BJP has established separate ministries and budgets for tribal welfare.”
“In the past 10 years, the budget for tribal welfare has increased fivefold. During the Congress government, there were barely a few Ekalavya residential schools nationwide. Today, Chhattisgarh alone has over 70 such schools. While the Congress government provided MSP for only 8-10 forest produce, now this number has reached around 100,” he added. PM Modi stated that ensuring a better life for every tribal family is his guarantee.
In his concluding remarks, PM Modi said, “I was not born to rest but to work. My goal is to develop the nation and make every family prosperous. Every vote cast for the lotus symbol will strengthen Modi’s power.” The PM stressed, “Therefore, in Bastar, on 19th April, be sure to bless Mahesh Kashyap Ji. In Kanker, on 26th April, ensure that Bhojraj Ji emerges victorious with maximum votes.”
Press Statement of Bharatiya Janata Party National President
The people of our country have consistently rejected the Congress Party, yet it persists in pursuing appeasement politics without any hesitation. When I reviewed the Congress Party’s manifesto, I couldn’t help but wonder: Is this the manifesto of the Congress Party or the Muslim League? The extent to which the Congress Party is willing to divide the nation and pursue power remains uncertain.
The Congress Party’s current discourse on religion-based reservation echoes the sentiments of the Muslim League from 1929. Their pursuit of power seems boundless, leaving us uncertain of the lengths they might go to. Presently, discussions about religious-based reservations and the proposed removal of the 50 percent reservation cap raise pertinent questions. Who will benefit from these reservations? I also want to say that the country should not forget that the UPA government and the Congress Party had made a similar law against the majority society, which could not be passed in the Parliament but the intention of the Congress Party became very clear.
Country has not forgiven the Congress Party for its divisive tactics and appeasement politics, and it is unlikely to do so in the future. They want the country to be divided but their hunger for power should not end. Rahul Gandhi owes an explanation regarding the disappearance of Congress party flags during his nomination procession in Wayanad.
Congress Party owes the nation an explanation for its stance on appeasement and reservation outlined in its manifesto. It must clarify why it is engaging in divisive tactics fueled by a thirst for power. Such attempts to sow discord within society will not be forgotten or forgiven by the country. The Congress Party must be held accountable for its actions.
Congress and DMK are two sides of the same coin: Jagat Prakash Nadda
Hon’ble Bharatiya Janata Party National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda addressed public meetings in Ariyalur, Karur & Virudhunagar in Tamil Nadu on Sunday. At the event, Tamil Nadu BJP Vice President Shri K.S. Narendran, Ariyalur President Shri K. Ayyappan, BJP Chidambaram candidate Smt Karthiyayini, BJP Karur Candidate Shri VV Senthilnathan, BJP Virudhunagar Candidate Smt Raadhika Sarathkumar, Tamil Nadu election Co In-charge Shri Sudhakar Reddy, and other leaders were present. During the program, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda highlighted that under the leadership of PM Shri Narendra Modi ji, both India and Tamil Nadu have experienced significant development while also prioritizing the preservation of Tamil culture and traditions. In contrast, the INDI Alliance is marred by corruption and nepotism, with leaders facing legal troubles, being either in jail or out on bail.
Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda emphasized the enthusiasm among the public, suggesting that Smt. Karthiyayini and Shri VV Senthilnathan are on track to win the elections. He noted Tamil Nadu’s rich cultural heritage, upheld by figures like the Nayanmars, the Alvars, and the Siddhars, who have preserved ancient traditions and Sanatan Dharma. Shri Nadda criticized the DMK and Congress for allegedly opposing Tamil culture and traditions. Shri Nadda stated that when Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi ji established the Sengol in Parliament the Congress and DMK opposed it, which showcased their opposition to Tamil culture and traditions. The Bharatiya Janata Party always stands for Tamil Nadu literature, culture, language, traditions, and customs. The upcoming elections are a battle between the BJP, aiming to revive Tamil culture, and the DMK and Congress, allegedly seeking to destroy Tamil culture.
BJP National President Shri Nadda highlighted India’s significant progress under PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s leadership. He noted that India, which was the 11th economic power in 2019, has now become the 5th largest economy globally, surpassing Britain, and is on track to become the 3rd largest. Shri Nadda mentioned the remarkable growth in electronic production, with India’s exports increasing sixfold. He pointed out that while in 2014, most mobile phones were imported from China, now 97% are manufactured in India. Under the dynamic leadership of PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji, India has also become the third-largest automobile sector, surpassing Japan. Additionally, India has emerged as the most effective and affordable medicine producer globally, with a 138% increase in medicine exports. Shri Nadda expressed confidence that India’s continued progress under PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s leadership will benefit Tamil Nadu significantly.
Shri JP Nadda emphasized that to fortify India’s strength, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has placed significant focus on uplifting marginalized sections of society. Shri Narendra has prioritized the empowerment of women, the aspirations of the youth, and the welfare of farmers. The Prime Minister’s attention to the needs of Dalits, tribals, and those who have been historically neglected has contributed to India’s enhanced resilience. Shri Nadda highlighted the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojna, which ensures that 80 crore people of the country and 3 crore 60 lakh people in Tamil Nadu receive either 5 kilograms of rice or wheat and 1 kilogram of pulses every month. The scheme has reportedly lifted 25 crore people out of poverty in India. Shri Nadda highlighted that as a result of these initiatives, extreme poverty in India has plummeted to less than 1%, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s journey towards becoming a developing economy. Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda stressed the importance of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi in supporting farmers, with 11 crore 78 lakh farmers receiving 2000 rupees every fourth month. In Tamil Nadu alone, 38 lakh farmers are benefiting from this scheme, receiving 2000 rupees directly into their accounts every fourth month. Shri Nadda also highlighted the impact in Chidambaram, Karur and Virudhunagar where 2 lakh 50 thousand farmers from each constituency are experiencing the positive effects of this program.
BJP National President Shri JP Nadda emphasized the empowerment of women through the provision of 10 crore gas connections under the Ujjwala Yojana, with 40 lakh allocated to Tamil Nadu. Additionally, 2 lakh 50 thousand beneficiaries are specifically benefiting in Chidambaram, Virudhunagar and 2 lakh beneficiaries in Karur. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, 11.4 crore people nationwide have been provided with tap connections in their homes, with 80 lakh individuals benefiting in Tamil Nadu and 4 lakh people specifically in Chidambaram. Under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, a total of 55 crore poor individuals, which amounts to 40 percent of the Indian population, are receiving health coverage of up to 5 lakh rupees per year.
BJP National President stressed the special significance Tamil Nadu holds for PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji, pointing out that under his leadership, tax devolution in the state has increased threefold. Additionally, grants-in-aid have surged by four times. Notably, for the National Health Mission, 1650 crore rupees have been allocated to bolster health infrastructure in the region. The budget for health infrastructure has been doubled, and Tamil Nadu has inaugurated 11 new medical colleges. Shri Nadda highlighted that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has allocated 613 crore rupees for the PM Gram Sadak Yojana, aiming at the development of rural roads. Additionally, a fund of 872 crores has been earmarked for drinking water supply projects. Rural development initiatives have received a substantial boost with an allocation of 10,346 crores. Moreover, the railway budget for Tamil Nadu has witnessed a remarkable increase, soaring seven times higher than previous allocations. Under the Bharat Mala project, construction of 1478 km of roads is underway. A defense corridor is being established linking Chennai, Coimbatore, Hosur, Salem, and Tiruchirappalli, with approximately 12,000 crore rupees worth of Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) signed. Eleven cities in Tamil Nadu have been designated as smart cities. Additionally, development is underway for the Chennai-Bengaluru industrial corridor.
Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda emphasized the distinct contrast between PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s commitment to India’s and Tamil Nadu’s development and the intentions of the INDI Alliance, which seems geared towards protecting their own families and shielding corrupt leaders. Shri Nadda pointed out that while PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji strives to eradicate corruption, the INDI Alliance appears to shield corrupt leaders. Shri Nadda coined “DMK” as representing “Dynasty, Money Swindling, and Katta Panchayat,” suggesting a culture of dynastic politics and corruption within the alliance. Farooq Abdullah is implicated in cricket fraud, Akhilesh Yadav in Gomti front, laptop distribution, and foodgrain scam, Lalu Yadav in fodder scam and Land-for-job scam, and TMC ministers are in jail for different cases. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, AAP leader Manish Sisodia, and BRS leader K Kavitha are in jail for their involvement in a liquor scam. Udaynidhi Stalin and the Stalin family are embroiled in a DA case. Leaders from the INC like Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, P Chidambaram, Karti Chidambaram, and AAP leader Sanjay Singh are out on bail. Shri Nadda suggested that practically, the leaders of the INDI Alliance are either in jail or on bail. Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda emphasized that the corrupt governance of the Stalin family is putting the development of Tamil Nadu at stake. While concluding his remarks, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda emphasized that to end corruption and foster development in the state, the public must vote for Smt.
